Meet Brandon Presley
Brandon Presley isn't your run-of-the-mill politician. He's a doer. A fighter, who keeps his promises, stands up for the little guy, and isn't afraid to ruffle more than a few feathers to deliver results to the hardworking people and families of Mississippi.
Brandon served as Mayor of Nettleton from 2001 to 2007, having been elected at the age of 23, making him one of the youngest mayors in Mississippi history. He balanced the budget every year, cut taxes twice, and got the town moving again.
In 2007 he was elected to the Public Service Commission as the youngest Commissioner ever elected in Mississippi history. Brandon opened up meetings that had been closed to the public for decades, brought high-speed internet to some of the most remote and forgotten parts of Mississippi, put people back to work with the Hire Mississippi program, and saved taxpayers over 6 billion dollars.
Now Brandon is ready to build a Mississippi where we fight corruption, not embrace it. Serve working people and families, not the special interests. And lead with strength, courage, and real backbone.
Brandon's Story
Brandon Presley was born and raised by a single mother in a blue-collar family outside of Tupelo. His uncle, Lee County Sheriff Harold Ray Presley, who served as his father figure, was shot and killed in the line of duty. Brandon has dedicated his life to public service and became mayor of his hometown of Nettleton where he cut property taxes, balanced the budget, and helped bring in new jobs. Following his time as mayor, Presley was elected to the Public Service Commission where he’s fought to bring high-speed internet to small towns and rural communities across the state so more Mississippians can access better job and educational opportunities. Presley has taken on big utility companies and their influence by enacting tough ethics reforms and helping to lower utility prices for Mississippians, including the Ratepayers Bill of Rights to guarantee utilities can’t take advantage of consumers. He also introduced a plan to create the “Hire Mississippi” program to encourage utilities to hire Mississippi workers instead out-of-state workers.
Commissioner Brandon Presley was elected Public Service Commissioner for the Northern District of Mississippi in 2007, re-elected in 2011, 2015, and most recently in 2019 without opposition. Elected to the Public Service Commission at age 30, he was the youngest Commissioner ever elected in Mississippi. Prior to his election to the Public Service Commission, he served as Mayor of Nettleton from 2001 to 2007, having been elected at the age of 23, making him one of the youngest mayors in Mississippi history.
Commissioner Presley was elected in November 2019 to serve as the President of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC), which is composed of regulatory commissioners from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
He has also served as President of the Southeastern Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners, which is composed of Public Service Commissioners from the eleven (11) Southern States and Puerto Rico.
Commissioner Presley currently serves on the advisory committee for the New Mexico’s State University Center for Public Utilities and is serving his second term on the Electric Power Research Institute’s (EPRI) Advisory Council. He is also a member of the Financial Research Institute Advisory Board. He is a graduate of Harvard University’s Kennedy School program for State and Local Government Executives.
Commissioner Presley, 45, is a lifelong resident of Nettleton, where he is a member of the Nettleton United Methodist Church. He is past-President and current member of the Nettleton Lions Club and is a member of the Nettleton Civitan Club.
